How Smartboards and Visualizers are transforming presentations

The traditional concept of a presentation usually involves a person, conveying certain ideas or messages through the use of media. Such media could be either in the form of a powerpoint slide, a projection, an object, or simply just speech.

With the introduction of technology into virtually every aspect of our lives, the way presentations are being carried out has also been improved and modernized. Today, presentations can be done without having a physical limitation as to where the presentor or audience is located. It is very common for business meetings and classes to be conducted virtually across the globe, regardless of timezone or location.

Let’s be honest, modern audiences are no longer satisfied with a simple traditional presentation. What they have come to expect is the usage of interactive and engaging media that they can relate to. In fact, people’s attention spans are getting shorter and shorter. The presenter needs to captivate and attract the audiences’ attention through non-conventional means.  And this is where classroom smartboards and visualizers play an important role in presentations.

An interactive smartboard functions basically as a giant touch screen display. It allows the presenter to present information through various media such as videos, pictures and more! This allows the presenter to convey ideas and messages in a more engaging manner. Having touchscreen capabilities also allows the presenter to make notes on the fly. It offers unrivaled flexibility as well because it allows you to share, view and control from your computer and smart devices.

A classroom visualizer is also known as a document camera. It is basically a modern rendition of traditional reflector projectors. It allows projection of notes, books and teaching materials online through the usage of high-powered lenses. With remote learning and working more common nowadays, many teachers use visualizers to basically project notes online.

With live streaming becoming ever more popular, teachers are using document cameras/visualizers to actively present on topics that cannot be conveyed effectively with powerpoint slides. Examples of this can include art classes and also solving mathematical equations. This ensures that the audience is able to follow the progress step by step.

As highlighted above, both smartboards and visualizers are not completely new concepts, but they are an evolution of existing tools. As presentations are getting less physical, the ability to convey ideas clearly online is important. Whether you are conducting an online class, or pitching a new business idea to investors, smartboards and visualizers will help to get the job done.
